American College of Physicians Research Resident Day 2026

Dr. Salma Adam was awarded Best Poster Presentation at the American College of Physicians Research Resident Day at the University of Maryland Capital Region Health for her research titled “Between Bullets and Outbreaks: Epidemic Control in Sudan’s Forgotten War.” Her work examines the complex intersection of conflict and infectious disease transmission, focusing on the urgent need for context-specific, adaptive epidemic control strategies in fragile settings. Through this research, she sheds light on the challenges of delivering effective public health interventions amid instability and highlights the disproportionate burden faced by vulnerable populations in conflict-affected regions.
